![]() ![]() You recognize the skill of the story tellers and it is as if they are teasing you by wafting the aromatic inklings of a good book and failing to deliver. It read as more of an outline than a book. My first inclination is to blame the editors as the book bounces hither and thither through time with very little clear connection between events. ![]() This book was as satisfying as a tofu burger, much ado but little or no substance. This is a time skipping novel depicting incidents that impacted the Civil War and influenced Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln’s Sword by Debra Doyle and James D. Why is Thomas always in a rush to leave when talking to Cole? Who was the stranger that Kevin and his friend steal bread from? Why does he appear at the end when the James-Younger Gang was fleeing Minnesota if he wasn't going to contribute anything to the storyline at all?Ĥ. Why was the mystery surrounding the light shining above Lincoln's head at his inauguration ball never explained?ģ. Why does Butler's sword actually matter?Ģ. Here are just some of the loose ends and plot holes that I can think of.ġ. I just wish that there weren't so many loose ends and that the supernatural part of the worldbuilding was better developed. Nevertheless, this is an exciting piece of fiction, one with a storyline that kept me engaged and never bored. ![]() I found it quite strange at times reading about how these characters (who were actual people who had existed in the past) were somewhat involved with the supernatural. Picked this book up for a crazy discount when a local bookstore was closing down last month. ![]()
